Überbauung Untere Bahnhofstrasse, Wil
New development right next to the station — with a PVT-regenerated geothermal probe field for heating and cooling.

A new residential, service and commercial development with bicycle parking was built directly at Wil railway station. The Minergie-certified buildings are heated and cooled by a geothermal probe field.
PVT hybrid collectors on the extensively greened flat roofs generate electricity and low-temperature heat at the same time. The captured heat regenerates the probe field in summer and relieves it throughout the year.
386 hybrid collectors with 164 kWp electrical and 376 kWp thermal output. The geothermal probe field comprises 18 probes, each 250 m deep; the regeneration rate is around 75 per cent.
Long-term stable source temperatures enable efficient heat pump operation and a renewable supply of heat and cold. The additionally generated solar power is available to the development.
